Audition for us!

Sadly, one of our singers is leaving us to move to the sunnier land of Austin, TX.  As we were just ramping up toward a summer concert, it's time for us to hold auditions.  Interested?  Here's the scoop:

Elegant Catastrophe wants YOU!

Seattle's Elegant Catastrophe Singers seek a singer, male or female, to join our alternative/electronic-influenced vocal band. We're a collaborative, boundary-pushing vocal group that writes original music and reinterprets existing material to make it our own.

We've had a variety of small and opening gigs and are pushing towards our first solo headlining show in Seattle. We're extremely collaborative and focus on the process of creation as well as having a blast singing together twice a week.

If you have demos or other recordings you want us to listen to, send us a link or mp3s with your audition email. Pluses include: previous a cappella or other organized singing experience; experience in vocal arranging, songwriting experience, and vocal percussion/ beatbox skills.

Auditions will be held by appointment – please contact Ariel at elegantcatastrophe@gmail.com to set up a time.

Welcome!

Welcome to the first blog post / news update from Elegant Catastrophe headquarters.  New web site, new musics, new line-up - there's a lot going on!
  • Angels in America pre-show appearance - Absurd Reality Theatre is producing Angels In America: Millennium Approaches later this summer, and is putting together pre-show events throughout the run of the show.  We were honored to be asked to perform a couple tunes at one of these events.  If you've never seen a production of Angels before, I have to say it's one of the most outstanding plays of the modern era - believe the hype!  And if you get to see some ECS action beforehand, well that's just snazzy, innit.  Our appearance is July 26th.
  • Spin The Bottle - Our next appearance as musicians in residence at this popular late night cabaret happens September 5th at 11pm.  We'll be pretty loose by then, and StB always offers a little something for everybody.
  • Private performance - Wedged in the middle of those two public events will be our first longer set.  We've been invited to do 40 minutes at a private music event that happens every other week throughout the summer.  After our recent appearances at 12 Minutes Max and Spin The Bottle, where we've only performed two songs at each gig, we're chomping at the bit to get a longer performance under our belts.
